Unveiling Exciting Features in Power BI - November 2023 Update

Welcome to the latest Power BI update for November 2023! In this edition, we're thrilled to introduce several noteworthy features that enhance the overall user experience. Let's delve into the key highlights:

Let's go through the new features.

Configure Pane Switcher

Stack instead of swap.

This can be enabled in two methods.

  • View Ribbon > Pane switcher > always open a new pane

  • Options > Report Settings > always open a new pane

Resize Dataflyout

Add Button for table visuals

Narrative visual - Copilot (preview)

Can provide a textual summary generated by the CoPilot. It provides suggestions to get a summary or you can give a custom prompt.

Can generate a summary through either the current page/the entire report or selected visuals.

Note: it doesn't go into the dataset. It'll just pickup the data from the visuals and provide the summary.

🌟 Dax Query Editor 🌟

Now this is a very powerful tool. Not only does it run DAX queries, you have a number of predefined quick queries, Dax formatter... etc

You can now generate a number of DAX queries with quick queries on a table / measures / measure groups / columns ... etc.

See the below four screenshots.

1. Right-click on a FACT

2. Right-click on a Column

3. Right-click on a Measure Group

4. Right-click on a Measure

Additionally editing Dax queries is now made easier.

Hover to see Dax expression to see the underlying expression.

Or Use Inline to see the underlying DAX expression

The Explorer

The explorer is a lightweight and focused experience to explore data.

Once explored this can also be saved in the workspace and will be available as shown in the below screenshot.
